MPH Student recieves Dr. Helen L. Scheibner Life Science and Public Health Scholarship
On November 14th the Indiana Public Health Association and the Indiana Public Health Foundation hosted the 2013 Tony and Mary Hulman Health Achievement Awards. We are happy to announce that our very own MPH student, Katie Gasiorowski, received the Dr. Helen L. Scheibner Life Science and Public Health Scholarship.
The purpose of the Dr. Helen L. Scheibner Life Science and Public Health scholarship program is to promote student interest in Life Science and Public Health by offering financial assistance to encourage and facilitate the pursuit of a professional career in these fields. (Life Science is inclusive of medicine, dental, nursing all allied health science professions; i.e. PT, OT, DH, PAS and the science of public health)
Katie Gasiorowski is a Masters of Public Health student at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI, with concentrations in Social Behavioral Sciences and Health Policy and Management. Katie states, "It is imperative that the steps we take as public health professionals are impactful and long lasting. That is the only way we can secure a healthier future for the populations we serve." Katie enjoys studying the needs of communities and developing programs to help meet those needs. She follows closely the policymaking process on a state and national level and advocates on behalf of important public health issues. Her career goal is to work with nonprofit health organizations to implement and promote their programs. Katie gratefully says that this scholarship is very helpful for her final year of graduate school, bringing her closer to her goals.
Congratulations to Katie Gasiorowski for her achievements!
