Bachelor of Science in Public Health – Environmental Health Science

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health – Environmental Health Science (BSPH) degree provides students with a solid foundation in public health, with an emphasis on environmental public health. The program delivers an excellent balance of core public health principles, specialized environmental public health knowledge, hands on experience in environmental public health, and general education courses. Our graduates are well prepared to step into a job as an environmental public health practitioner or to pursue an advanced degree. With careful planning, this curriculum can meet the basic science requirements for many clinical health professions programs, including the IU School of Medicine. 

Applications and Scholarships

To be admitted into the BSPH in Environmental Health Science program at the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, students must have at least a 2.5 undergraduate cumulative and semester grade point average (GPA). To remain in good academic standing and graduate from this program, students must maintain at least a 2.5 semester and cumulative GPA. Students enrolled in this major are eligible for special scholarship and internship opportunities.

Requirements

To complete this degree, students take a combination of General Education courses, Public Health Core courses, Environmental Health Science courses, Elective courses and a Practical Experience course that together total 120 credits. The specific distribution of classes is detailed below. The BSPH in Environmental Health Science meets the stringent standards of the Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council.
