Student Representation on Committees
PhD Student Association
The purpose of the PhD Student Association is to give students a voice in school and university affairs. The PhD Student Association is comprised of and represents students from all three of the department’s PhD Programs, including Epidemiology. The university makes funding available through the Graduate and Professional Student Government (see below) for student associations to conduct activities for their student bodies. Student association officers are elected by their peers and are actively involved in school committees and activities such as new student orientation, student social gatherings, and philanthropic events. This committee meets monthly or as needed.
Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG)
Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) is the graduate student government body on the IUPUI campus. GPSG meets bi-monthly and student representatives from the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health are required to attend.
PhD Program Committee
The PhD Program Committee is comprised of the Associate Dean of Education and Training, the PhD Program Directors, the PhD Student Services representative, and one doctoral student enrolled in a PhD program and in good academic standing. This committee reviews proposals for new courses, discusses issues related to the PhD programs, and reflects on short-term and long-term curricular goals, objectives and targets. This committee meets once per month during the academic year. The doctoral student representative is appointed by the PhD Student Association president for one academic year. Student representatives may be re-appointed to this position for multiple years.
Ad Hoc Committees
Ad hoc committees are organized as needed. Epidemiology PhD student representation is solicited when necessary to accomplish committee work.
